Sometimes people consult us a couple of weeks before going on a beach holiday in the hope that the veins can be fixed in time. The problem is that all treatments for large varicose veins and for thread veins take a while to become effective and temporarily leave some mild bruising which prevents the legs looking perfect for a few weeks. For large lumpy varicose veins, the legs look greatly improved after one month and even better after three months. When treating thread veins by injections (there is no better treatment!) we expect that a good outcome will be seen after about 4 weeks. Most people starting thread vein treatment need a series of treatments over 2 – 3 months to get an excellent result.
The answer is to start vein treatment at least three months before an excellent result is required – so anytime now or in the near future would be good to start to get your legs ready for the summer hols.
